Carlo Paleari
I paint out of necessity, I couldn't do without it.
I paint my countryside, my nature, the one I see and look for as soon as I can escape from the city, that nature that welcomes me and in which I grew up.
I love when my gaze gets lost in the thousand furrows of the plows, when it caresses the blonde ears swaying in the fields or is enchanted by the thousand reflections of a pond.
The shapes are born, as if by magic, between the shades of color, on the canvas... the overlapping colors are revealed by scratches and engravings, framed, to create a defined space, almost an ideal window, to look out from.
My Story
I grew up in the Milanese hinterland, drawing has always occupied my free time but in 2000 I met an informal painter from Legnano, whose studio I began to frequent, and who introduced me to real painting.
The theme of my painting is immediately nature as a mirror of emotions and human nature.
The result is a series of paintings dedicated to animals that represent my moods and what happens around me.
Mobiles were born in 2008: painting intersects with digital photography and the manipulation of the most varied materials. The idea is to create art that can be accessible to everyone: a bit like "IKEA" art to be assembled and disassembled, moved and added in collaboration with the user. The work becomes a sculpture-game, a painting-installation, art with the "assembly kit" and the "instructions for use".
The recurring themes, therefore, are linked to animals, trees, waters, sometimes even fruits, which symbolically refer to MAN and his vices (e.g. "Rotten apples"), his fears or his virtues.
Some works speak of "trees and roots" since trees, like men, and so too the artist, need strong, solid and well-sunk roots to grow, live and be flourishing.
The actual artistic process began in 2001 by winning a competition in a small town in Brianza with "I cats bad". In the following years I exhibited in personal and collective exhibitions in Milan and its surroundings and some Ligurian locations to which I am particularly attached.
In 2004 “Red Bull” was published in the international furniture magazine “Kitchen” and in 2005 with the painting “Sparrows in San Francesco” I was noticed (and cited in the catalog of the exhibition “Saronno en plain air”) by the critic Arnaldo Fontana; I also won a silver medal in a national competition with “Betulle”.
In the following years I exhibited in several solo and group exhibitions and participated in numerous competitions, where I received various recommendations and awards.
From those years, also the mention of the National Prize "Artemisia 2006" and the National Painting Competition "Legnano Arte" in 2007.
A creative pause follows due to family situations and events that lead me onto other paths, but the expressive need finally bursts in stronger than ever. In 2018 stronger and more confident than ever, I find my artistic direction. A new production begins, linked to the Lombard countryside, to memories but also to today's life, frenetic, crazy and complicated which can find refreshment and refuge among the gentle furrows of the ploughs.
In recent years an intense and prolific production of works followed, often recognized with exhibitions, prizes and mentions.
September 2023 I am invited and participate in the collective "Una Luce d'Arte" in Clusone
October 2023 2* classified at the 37th edition of the Emilio Gola Prize
